Shehla Rashid writes

"The war is not being fought across the border. It's being fought right here, because the governments that you have been electing are anti-people governments, which are fighting wars of aggression against their own citizens (subjects?). The policies of the govts are pauperising the people, driving them to suicides, malnutrition, homelessness, indebtedness, disease and death, in those places which are NOT demanding Azadi from India. Now, you must've been told that it's your karma, but, no, it's the government's policies. The news is full of "surgical strike" bruahaha. Which news channel has shown you the "strike" by sanitation workers in Gujarat, or by Honda workers in the National Capital? Meanwhile, the govt's 'brave' troops are burning rice crop in Kashmir and destroying apple orchards. The "surgical strike" is happening against the people of Kashmir on both sides, not against Pakistan. The govt's troops have been killing children, unarmed citizens, women and elderly folk in Kashmir, and jailing those who speak up about it. Kashmir is so much of an "integral part" of India that simply uttering the word "Kashmir" can land you in jail, and attract sedition charges! In order to hide its wrongdoings in Kashmir, the govt is courting a war. In order to hide its wrongdoings everywhere else in the country, the govt is terrorising Kashmir, and using that as a communal card for upcoming elections. The govt is backing beef fascism, and, in order to divert attention from the Una movement against beef fascism, is sounding the war bugle. Very funny! Because the war has been ON for a while. Against the people, who are being fooled in the name of religion while being denied the right to education, who are being fed lies by corporate stooges and denied the right to even know things without distortion. Media houses are bought out; social media is being flooded with Sanghi filth; so that no one asks some simple questions: Why is there no credible investigation into Uri attack? Why is there no investigation into Pathankot attack? Why is there no investigation into all the terror cases in which innocent Muslims were framed and then acquited (like Akshardham, for which the Supreme Court reprimanded Modi)? Why is there no fresh investigation into the Chhitisinghpora Massacre in which 35 Kashmiri Sikhs were killed, just ahead of US President's visit? Why is there no action by a civilian court on the 'brave soldiers' who killed 5 innocent Kashmiri Muslims, falsely claiming that they were the "terrorists" who killed the Chitisingpora Sikhs? Open your eyes. The war is right here. Those of us who can see it are branded as anti-nationals, Naxals, etc. But if you can't see it, you are either ignorant or arrogant, or both, which isn't a rare combination. There are people on both sides who are fighting against these anti-people governments. In India, they are told to go to Pakistan. In Pakistan, they are told to go to India. You don't have to be a communist to see the futility of war. You just have to be human. If you can't see it, your humanity has been taken away by those who ask you to hate people across imaginary lines drawn by British geographers. I'm sorry, I can't do that. Because, if I had to do that, I would have to hate anyone who is not a Kashmiri."
